Research and teaching
Basic research at the Institute is particularly concerned with clarifying the genetic basis and biochemical pathomechanisms of rare diseases, especially in the area of metabolic and connective tissue diseases, hereditary developmental disorders and tumour dispositions. Other focal points are the establishment and further development of genetic analysis methods and the characterisation of molecular mechanisms in haematological and other neoplasms.
Individual research groups:
- Congenital Metabolic and Connective Tissue Diseases (Head: Univ.-Prof. Dr. med Johannes Zschocke, Ph.D.)
- Biochemical Genetics / Keller Research Group (Head: Dr. rer. nat. Markus Keller)
- Genetiklicher Tumoren / Hereditary cancer genetics (Head: ao. Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. rer. nat. techn. Katharina Wimmer)
